They say laughter is the best medicine, but for many central government employees, it feels like the only thing we get is a long wait at the government hospital!
Every day, employees trudge through their work, only to realize that when it comes to healthcare benefits, things aren’t looking good. One employee put it bluntly: “We pay so much tax, but when we need medical help, it feels like we get nothing in return.”
This employee is frustrated because, as a government worker, they’re stuck relying on public hospitals. The care there is often lacking, and it’s not easy to get decent treatment. Meanwhile, others can access private healthcare through programs like PMJAY, but central government employees are left out. They can’t even get a PMJAY card, while other folks enjoy private treatment for free. It’s a tough pill to swallow!
The newspaper (Tribune Chandigarh) clipping about the “High Court Ordered Full Reimbursement of Emergency Expenses.” While such news goes viral, the reality is different. When bills come in, it’s up to the administrator’s discretion. This shows that even court rulings don’t guarantee fairness; they often depend on executive orders from the relevant ministry. Many claims end up being settled at CGHS rates, which leaves employees feeling shortchanged.
To make matters worse, the ABHA facility only covers in-patients and is capped at just 5 lakhs for the whole family in a year. How can anyone feel secure about their health when it seems like the system cares more about others?
It’s hard not to feel bitter. Some even joke about cancelling CGHS and just getting health insurance instead. It’s funny, but it also shows how desperate things have become.
In the end, central government employees just want a fair chance at decent healthcare benefits. It’s time for the system to do better and support everyone, not just a lucky few. After all, we all deserve to feel secure about our health!
