In a significant move towards digitizing payments, the Directorate has given the green light for QR-based payment collection for COD (Cash on Delivery) services. This exciting update is set to make life a little easier for postmen—and maybe even the customers who fumble around for exact change at the door!
What’s the Buzz About?
Thanks to CEPT, the Postman Mobile Application (PMA) has been upgraded with a new feature allowing COD payments through a QR code scan. No more awkward moments at the doorstep waiting for customers to fish out their wallets. Now, with just a quick scan, payments can be processed smoothly and swiftly.
What’s Next for Postmen?
Starting October 21, 2024, postmen at all Nodal Delivery Centres (NDC) in the Circle will begin using this feature. Before that, post offices need to install the latest version of the PMA app, which comes with a detailed SOP on how to handle digital payments for COD collection. If you’re in charge of rolling this out, check the Directorate’s letter (No. 9-02/2019-PD, dated October 17, 2024) for all the nitty-gritty details.
