Editing the Hosts File to Access Finacle

  1. Open System in Administrator Mode
    Start by running your system or opening applications in Administrator mode. This ensures you have the necessary permissions to make changes to system files.
  2. Navigate to the Hosts File Location
    Go to the directory:

    • Local Disk (C:) > Windows > System32 > drivers > etc
  3. Open the Hosts File
    Right-click on the hosts file and select “Open with” > “Notepad.” This will open the file in Notepad, allowing you to edit it.
  4. Add the Required Host Entry
    Scroll to the last line of the file and add the following entry:

    172.16.20.40 dpdcpfjc.fsi.indiapost.gov.in

After editing, your hosts file should look similar to the example below:

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost
172.16.20.40 dpdcpfjc.fsi.indiapost.gov.in

Save the Changes
Save the file. Since the hosts file is a system file, you may need Administrator permissions to save it. If prompted, confirm the action.

Open Finacle
With this entry added, try opening Finacle to confirm that it connects correctly.
